surveillance awareness mapping

Surv allows anyone to view the locations and details of public surveillance cameras within 100 meters of their smart phone. Using the power of the crowd to acquire this data and store it in the cloud. Traffic cameras, red light cameras, even facial recognition and license plate reading cameras are mapped and tracked in any city around the world. In the near future users will also have access to search through data acquired from the analytic results of archived footage.

Download the free beta version of Surv from the Apple App store. Please make a donation if you'd like to see development continue.

How It Works

Your City

The crowd maps surveillance cameras monitoring public areas in your city.

The Cameras

The location coordinates, details and a photo of the cameras are uploaded to our cloud server.

The Map

A colored pin representing the camera location is added to the map. Purple for municipal, green for public and blue for private.

Location Aware

Camera locations that are within 100 meters of you are updated on your smart phone in real time.

Your List

Scroll the list of locations near you. Touch one to view its details and photo or share it to social networks.

Supported Devices

Surv will support iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, 4S and 5 as well as the latest iPod Touch devices running iOS 6. Android support coming soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Top 5

  • Q.How can I be part of the closed beta?

The easiest way in to the closed beta is to back our Kickstarter campaign.

If you're press or an established member of the mobile tech community use the contact form to send us a request

  • Q.Does Surv track users and store that data?

Surv uses your phone's location to report cameras near your position. We do not store that location data on our servers.

  • Q. How much does it cost?

Surv will be absolutely free to use. Because we rely on crowdsourced data we would never charge the public to use that data.

In the future we expect to offer more than camera location data. At that time we will charge for premium features and services on demand.

  • Q. Why is an invitation required to map camera locations?

Crowdsourcing has its limits. To ensure the quality of the data we reserve the right to select who can map locations.

Anyone can receive an invite from someone who is already authorized. This acts as an informal referral by a trusted member of the crowd.

  • Q. When is the Android version coming out?

Doesn't it always seem like iOS gets everything first? The progress of the Android version will be determined by the success of the iOS version or our ability to raise funding.
